NEED EXTRA HELP WITH YOUR STUDIES? WE'VE GOT THAT!
Tutoring & Learning Center
The Tutoring & Learning Center (TLC) is for students who need extra help in an academic area. A full-time coordinator and certified teachers/tutors assist students with testing, papers, and homework. TLC is available to any student for any reason - improve a grade, review for a test, help with difficult concepts, help writing a paper, etc.
Before and After School Tutoring
All students may come to the Student Assistance Center before school (7:30-8:00 AM, Monday through Friday) and/or after school (2:30-5:00 PM, Monday through Thursday) for extra help. A van runs from WCSCC to our partner schools at 5:00 PM. Transportation should be scheduled at the start of the day in the Student Assistance Center. Email mschaefer@wcscc.org with questions.
Student Assistance Area
The Student Assistance Center (SAC) is for Special Education students who need extra help in either an academic area or career-tech program. It is staffed with tutors that provide appropriate accommodations to meet student needs. Also accessible through the SAC are Vocational Special Education Coordinators (VoSE), an academic aide to Life Skills classes, and an Intervention Specialist. This staff provides the services necessary to meet the requirements for students with Individualized Education Plans and the guidelines of IDEIA.
Credit Recovery/Accelerated Learning
The iLab is available to assist students with credit recovery (credits needed to meet graduation requirements.) The students complete courses online for which they can receive high school credit. iLab coursework typically takes the place of a study hall.
The iLab can also be used by students who would like to take additional course work. These online courses give students the flexibility of combining computer work and face-to-face time with the instructor, while learning from the best libraries, museums, and information archives in the world. Career Center counselors will enroll students. Instructors are located at the Career Center. There is no tuition for iLab courses.
The Virtual Learning Academy (VLA) is also an option for credit recovery and accelerated learning. Contact the guidance counselor at your home school district for cost and registration deadline. Parental approval is required. Meeting times with the VLA instructor may be after the regular school day.
